How To Cook Punjabi Sukhi (Dry) Urad Dal!


Ingredients

1 Cup urad washed
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
1/2 Garam masala
1 Onion (chopped)
1" piece Ginger (chopped)
1/2 tsp Red chili powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tbsp Ghee
1/2 cup Water

For Garnishing

Few coriander leaves (chopped)

Method

Pick, wash and soak dal for 1/2 an hour. Heat ghee, add ginger and onion and fry till golden brown. Add cumin seeds and rest of the spices, fry for a minute. Add soaked dal and 1/2 cup of water.
Cover and cook on low flame till all water evaporates and the dal is tender. Serve hot garnished with chopped coriander leaves.
